Pesto is such an easy, tasty, and multi-functional “sauce” to have around the house that I try to have some on hand at all times. It can be a quick sauce on zucchini noodles or lasagna, a savory spread on my favorite rosemary crackers, and so much more. The addition of other favorite ingredients like sundried tomatoes or olives kicks it up yet another notch, but this simple pesto recipe is all you really need.
Ingredients
- 2 Cups Fresh Basil
- 1/2 Cup Pine Nuts (can also substitute Walnuts as a less expensive alternative)
- 2-4 Cloves Garlic (optional & to taste)
- 1/4 Cup Olive Oil
- 1/2 tsp Sea Salt
Instructions
- Place everything except for olive oil into a food processor & lightly chop.
- Slowly add in olive oil while running. Blend all ingredients to your preferred texture.
- For added "oomph", try dropping in sundried tomatoes or olives!
