Fall Celebration Apple Chips

I have been going crazy over apples these past couple of weeks, and apple picking season is just starting.  A couple of weeks ago, I shared a yummy raw applesauce recipe, and here’s one more way to enjoy those local, organic apples.  Apple chips pack well, so they end up in any bag I walk out the door with, so I’ve always got  delicious sweet treat within reach!

Apple Chips

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Un-Cooking Time: 7 hours

Total Time: 7 hours, 20 minutes

Apple Chips

Ingredients

  • 3-4 Fresh organic apples
  • Cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Using a mandolin, slice apples 1/8-1/4 inch thick (depending on your own preference)
  2. Using a pairing knife, cut out seeds/cores (you could, alternately, core the apples before slicing them...I just don't possess that particular kitchen gadget)
  3. Lay apple slices out on dehydrator sheets
  4. Lightly Sprinkle cinnamon over each apple
  5. Dehydrate at 140 deg for 1 hour
  6. Reduce heat to 115, and dehydrate for 4-6 hours (time may vary for different dehydrators)
